Let me tell you about how move in day went, from the beginning to the very end. I woke up about 8:30 this morning and started my day. I am usually a grumpy waker-upper, but I knew today was going to be a great day. I had made some time for myself to get ready, get dressed, and showered after I had moved all of my boxes downstairs to the front hallway. From there, my father and I loaded up the car. I do not remember what it was in regards to, but I got frustrated with something my father was saying, and then my Godmother pulled up in front of the house. Now, last year on move in day packing the car was horrendous. I did it all on my own, not a word was said the whole ride up there, and I was just generally having a bad day.. But each time She has seen me move back to school, i've always been disgruntled about something, and it just kinda bothers me a little. I shouldn't let the little things bother me. But anyways, once we were on the road, my father and I were just fine. We grabbed some coffee before we left New Beige and some breakfast. From there, I guess I could sum the two and a half hour drive as alotta RENT songs and the same Jersey Boys' 0:14 second monologue. But I returned to campus about 1:30 pm , and by then I had moved everything with my dad up to my dorm on the third floor. To be honest, it wasn't too bad, not a heavy move at all. It took me about three hours to fully organize everything and unpack, but I was so exciteddd. And of course, I was blasting the RENT soundtrack the entire time. (Duhhhh!) But after I was all settled in, I went outside and sat with some classmates. There was a "Welcome Back" barbecue.
Now here's something kinda cool. My roommate Liz is a vegetarian (by force) was working at the time, so I grabber her some food and put it in containers for her. I also left sticky notes around her side of the room, and wanna know my favorite part? She still has 'em on her desk. But she worked until like passed nine, so I didn't see her ALL daaaaay, after waiting ALL summer to see herrr, haha. But after dinner I had went grocery shopping with a friend and grabbed some essential foods such as: milk, butter, peanut butter cheerios, walnuts, a can of soup, a can of corn, and two boxes of Spiral Macaroni and Cheese. Spiraled. . .because I am an adult, and I can buy the fancy kind.
Afterwards, I ended up running into Dunkin's to grab a coffee and I ran into somebody I had JUST made friends with before I left for the summer, so we exchanged numbers and later that night, about eight or so, they picked me up and we went for a nice drive and just caught up. To be completely honest, it felt great to make spontaneous plans the first day back. It was a full day, and I sincerely enjoyed it.
Oh also, shout out to my roommate/friend Liz! I cannot be anymore thrilled about rooming with you this year, and I know this is just going to be a great year. She's exactly what I need: good & positive vibes, her witty and serious knowledge, her outgoing nature, her love for nature, just everything about her is going to help keep me in check. So, here's to our Sophomore year of college!
